Flexible PCB (FPC) Clone

Release Date:May 27, 2026

Flexible PCB (FPC) clone is a specialized reverse engineering service that focuses on replicating flexible printed circuits, which are widely used in compact, lightweight, and dynamic electronic devices such as smartphones, wearable devices, automotive electronics, and medical equipment. Unlike rigid PCBs, FPCs are made of flexible substrates (such as polyimide) that can bend, fold, and conform to complex shapes, making their cloning process more challenging and requiring professional technology and equipment.

The FPC clone process involves several key steps to ensure the flexibility and functionality of the cloned board. First, the original FPC is carefully inspected and scanned using high-resolution equipment to capture the layout, routing, and component placement information. Since FPCs are flexible and prone to deformation, engineers use specialized fixtures to keep the board flat during scanning, ensuring the accuracy of the captured data. Then, the flexible substrate material, copper foil thickness, and adhesive layer are analyzed to replicate the physical properties of the original FPC.

Engineers use advanced EDA software to reconstruct the FPC layout, paying special attention to the bending areas and signal routing to avoid signal interference or structural damage during bending. After the design is completed, the cloned FPC is fabricated using specialized flexible PCB production equipment, ensuring that the substrate flexibility, trace width, and component soldering meet the original standards. Finally, strict functional and reliability tests are conducted, including bending tests, signal integrity tests, and temperature resistance tests, to ensure that the cloned FPC performs identically to the original. This service helps enterprises maintain the supply of flexible circuits for their products, especially when the original design files are unavailable or the original manufacturer has discontinued production.
